Join us for our first post-primary meeting as we welcome AZGOP Chairman Robert Graham as our speaker!
As Republicans in Tempe, we faced a brutal primary season with low Republican turnout and a few key defeats. It’s time to pull ourselves back up and get back out there to fight for our Republican nominees. Chairman Graham will be showing us some of the latest and greatest from the state party and will be speaking about what we can do to fight for victory in the general election.
We are also pleased to announce that Tempe Republican Women has partnered with Children’s First Academy for a book drive that we will be holding between now and the November meeting. Children’s First Academy is a non-profit, open enrollment charter school dedicated to helping homeless and needy children in Tempe. We have worked with their staff to get a list of approved books for the upcoming school year. Please see here for the list they sent over.
Please note, not all of the books have been reviewed by TRW for content or message. Before purchasing any of the requested books, TRW recommends that its members review each title to ensure that you are not purchasing a book that runs contrary to your principles.
As well as the specific titles they listed, they also requested donations of any books for 6-8 year olds. As part of our AZFRW and NFRW guidelines, we are encouraged to donate books from the Mamie Eisenhower Library Project listing. Within the age range requested (6-8) are titles such as:
Arnold, Nancy — Pioneer Pups (October 2014)
Fisher, Verna — Colonial Families (Ages 4-8) (2011)
Fisher, Verna — Colonial Farms (Ages 4-8) (2011)
Fisher, Verna — Colonial Food (Ages 4-8) (2010)
Fisher, Verna — Colonial Towns (Ages 4-8) (2011)
Fisher, Verna — Colonial Traditions (Ages 4-8) (2011)
Moberg, Julia — Presidential Pets: The Weird Wacky, Little, Big, Scary, Strange Animals That Have Lived in the White House (Ages 6-9) (2012)
Montalvan, Luis Carlos — Tuesday Tucks Me In: The Loyal Bond Between a Soldier and His Service Dog (2014)
Pfundstein, Valerie — Veterans: Heroes in Our Neighborhood (2012)
Most, if not all, of these titles are available on Amazon.com. Bookman’s in Mesa (Southern/Country Club) has an extensive children’s section where you may be able to find inexpensive, used copies of the titles requested. The class sets are available online through various providers.
Please donate what titles and quantities you can. A box will be at the meeting to collect what you bring in. You may also drop off books at 2954 S El Dorado St Mesa, 85202 (Jessica’s home) at any time. A box will be by the front door. Should you purchase one of the titles above, please use this link to mark your name next to it on our checklist so as to avoid duplication.
Please email Jessica at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions.
